The person of Christ
"Jesus sees and describes himself in the context of the Old Testament promises. There is a great variety of promises in the Old Testament, and they seem to require someone with different natures: a divine nature for some promises; a human nature for others. That comes to a head with one description in particular, in Colossians 1:15, where Jesus is described as "the image of the invisible God". This can cover two things: he is perfect man (as humanity is made in the image of God); and he is also the one who reveals God fully and completely. Only someone who is divine can do that."

In this series of evening lectures, Mike Ovey, then the college's lecturer in doctrine, now Principal of Oak Hill, explores the way in which the person and work of Christ are described in the Old and New Testaments, and in the classic understanding of him in orthodox theology. The lectures will help you gain greater clarity in thinking about Christ, and in making him known in the contemporary world.
