| New direction for Youth and Children's Ministry |

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Melanie Lacy as Director of the Youth and Children's Ministry programme at Oak Hill, starting January 2010. Melanie has had a long standing concern for and commitment to theological education, training and biblical youth and children's ministry in the UK and Ireland and she joins us at a key stage in our strategy to serve the mission of local churches by equipping youth and children's leaders with biblical, mission-shaped training.
Much of Melanie's Masters degree research was concerned with theological education and she has been actively involved in children's and youth ministry for many years, notably having a significant role in the establishment of a biblical youth work and training organisation, Soul Truth, in Ireland. Melanie has most recently been serving as Youth Minister in Knutsford, Cheshire, for the past few years, where she has worked in both the parish and the community.
Following her ordination as a deacon in the Church of Ireland, Melanie served as the Ireland Team Leader for Crosslinks, the evangelical Anglican mission agency, and so brings a passion for God's mission and a desire to encourage and facilitate people to become involved in it.
"I am thrilled at the exciting prospect of being involved with the training of future children's and youth workers for this country. My desire is to see leaders equipped to make 'missional' disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, for the glory of God and the extension of Christ's kingdom – so we will see more young people loving him, living for him and serving him."
Oak Hill Principal, Mike Ovey, comments: "We are very excited by Melanie's appointment and are keen to gain from her 'real world' experience of training leaders who will engage with and win young people for Christ."
