BA(Hons) in Theological and Pastoral Studies
Although there is some opportunity in the two years of the Foundation Degree to take elective modules, the whole matter of choice increases in the third year and you are able to select a programme to match your own particular areas of interest.

This third year is a genuine progression from the Foundation Degree, where you are encouraged to go deeper and further. The first two years give you solid foundations, and the BA helps you build in an integrated way on those foundations.

The year is divided into three areas:

Biblical studies – these modules examine particular books of the Bible more deeply, as well as studying general biblical themes. You will practise methods of interpreting and applying the Bible that synthesise your study in scripture, theology, church history, and ethics to this point. You will also have the chance to do exegesis of the biblical text in the original Greek and Hebrew languages.

Theology and church history – these modules examine specific Christian doctrines and consider Christian and non-Christian ways of thinking. You will also explore the Church's growth through particular periods of history.

Church and world – these modules enable you to explore a wide range of subjects, including family and marriage counselling, Christian growth, and sociological and political issues.

You will need to take six modules with at least one from each of the three areas. You may also write a shorter or longer dissertation as an alternative to one or two taught modules respectively.
