John Short (left) has been studying at Oak Hill in preparation for working in Spain.

John says: "I felt that Oak Hill was the best place to be, both for sound doctrine and theology, and also the skills to be able to communicate the truths of Jesus in a cross-culturally acceptable way."

Theology and World Mission
The increase in short-term mission and the concentration of some mission agencies on development work has given the impression that missionaries do not need the same thorough training as ministers. In fact, those who will engage in church planting and church related ministry need not only the same depth of training as someone serving in Britain, but also need to know how to apply that training in a cross-cultural situation.

This conviction underpins Oak Hill’s new programme in Theology and World Mission. Our aim is to develop a theology of mission from the scriptures and then apply what we learn cross-culturally, both in the UK and beyond. We want to develop biblical, theological, intellectual and pastoral skills in our students in order to communicate the gospel effectively in a global context.

We are also keen to encourage cross-cultural mission in the UK as well as abroad. The integration of this new programme with our existing courses will help in achieving this significant goal.
