Theology and World Mission: is this right for me?
You will want to receive effective training for Word-based gospel ministry in partnership with local churches in a global context.

Although your future geographical location may not yet be clear, we anticipate that you will be called to long-term ministry in planting, establishing and building churches in other cultures, working together with existing churches.

The approach will be theologically rather than pragmatically based. You will recognise the importance of training that is both academically rigorous and pastorally applied, and you will want to learn how to apply your intellectual abilities to the vital task of world mission.

What qualities and skills will the programme aim to develop?

In our thinking, we’ve identified at least eight qualities and skills which we hope will be developed in you if you decide to participate in this programme.

> Confidence in handling God’s Word in a cross-cultural setting.

> The ability to understand mission in the context of God’s universal governance and providence.

> The ability to grasp a biblically-based approach to systematic theology and then to apply it in a cross-cultural context.

> An understanding of the challenges that other faiths and worldviews bring, both in terms of their own adherents and in our own understanding of the Christian message.

> Skill and sensitivity to communicate clearly the gospel to those from a different faith background.

> The ability to work within a different culture and to survive it.

> An understanding and practical experience of how to work in a church where the majority of members and the indigenous leadership team are from a different culture.

> An understanding of the process of church planting and church building within a different culture and the process of handing over to indigenous leadership at the right time.
