Lucy Montgomery (left) studied at Oak Hill for two years and now works mainly with young teenagers at a church in North London.
Lucy says: "Oak Hill helped equip me massively for what I'm doing now. I find myself in all sorts of situations which I wouldn't be able to deal with, unless I'd had the training."
Youth and Children's Ministry
The programme aims to equip men and women to teach the Bible to children and young people in the most effective way and lead them to maturity in Christ.
"Our vision is to provide training where the Bible is at the heart rather than being viewed as one tool among many. In practice, this means that we want the Bible to determine what we teach, rather than be conditioned by the prevalent cultural mood. At the same time, we want to train future leaders to teach the Bible in a clear and culturally relevant way to children and young people.
We also want to train youth and children's leaders who will be effective and mature members of the leadership team within a local church – and who see a long-term future in youth ministry, rather than necessarily as a stepping-stone to higher things.
In our discussion and preparation for this programme, we have been greatly encouraged by the level of interest and support from church leaders. We hope that reading these pages will encourage you to greater prayer for effective gospel ministry among children and young people, and to consider whether training at Oak Hill is the right way forward for you."
