Diploma of Higher Education Theology

Structure and modules

Structure

The DipHE is 240 credits; at least 100 credits must be at Level 4, and at least 100 credits at Level 5.

Requirements

Year 1
You must take all of:

  • 8 compulsory modules (totalling 100 credits)
  • Option modules, at Level 4 or Level 5, to take the total number of credits studied to at least 120 credits
  • Weekly church placement module (non-credit bearing) and associated reports

Year 2
You must take all of:

  • 7 compulsory modules (totalling 70 credits)
  • 1 of either MP2.3 or MP2.4 (10 credits)
  • Option modules, at Level 4, Level 5, or Level 6 to take the total number of credits studied to at least 120 credits
  • Weekly church placement module (non-credit bearing) and associated reports

Credit load

Normal credit load per year and range available (by agreement with College):

  • Full time: normal credit load per year is 120 credits; the range available per year is 100-140 credits
  • Part time: normal credit load per year is 60 credits; the range available per year is 40-80 credits.
  • There are limits to how much you can audit based on your credit load for the year.  See the Programme Information page for details.

Please note

Option modules are offered subject to viability (based on class size) and the College reserves the right to withdraw an option module if there is insufficient interest; not all option modules are offered every year.

Part time: if you wish to study Hebrew as one of your option modules in your CertHE year, please note that the constraints of the part time pathways are such that you will automatically have to over-credit by 10 credits.  To avoid this, you may wish to defer your study of Hebrew to your DipHE year (ie Year 3 of 4 or Year 3 of 6 depending on your programme).

Modules

These are the modules running in 2024/25.  This is a provisional list and is subject to change (option modules and tutors). For a full list of the option modules which are potentially available in any given year, please see the Programme Specification.
