In this Equip session, Eric Ortlund will explore different types of trials throughout Scripture, particularly the story of Job, reflecting on the spiritual purposes for suffering, and considering how we pastor and encourage one another.  

This teaching session is delivered in two 45 minute teaching sessions, with opportunities for interactions and questions.

Both dates for this event will cover the same content and do not run in series.

Meet the speaker

Dr Eric Ortlund, Lecturer in Old Testament and Biblical Hebrew

Eric teaches Hebrew and Old Testament and especially enjoys teaching Isaiah, the Psalms, and guiding students through first year Hebrew. His research interests focus on Isaiah and Job, and especially how these books can deepen Christian discipleship and sharpen Christian ministry. He is the author of numerous books including: Suffering Wisely and Well: The Grief of Job and the Grace of God (Crossway Books, 2022)'Piercing Leviathan: God's Defeat of Evil in the Book of Job' (Inter-Varsity Press, 2021).
