Would you like to refresh your language skills and enhance your ability to use Greek and Hebrew for teaching and preaching? Please join us for time together around the original biblical text, running over two days.
Book for the Language Refreshers, and download the programmes on these links:
The refreshers assume a 'beginner to intermediate' level of proficiency, with sessions designed to put the language of your choice to use in your ministry. We will focus not only on grammar and syntax, but also on:
• Reading with increased fluency
• Practising translation and exegesis in whole book context
• Using discourse analysis and other insights to read with the grain of the text
• Encouraging one another with ways to keep the languages alive and useful in ministry
Brad Bitner, who is leading the Greek Refresher, says: 'Our focus for the Greek sessions will be on reading fluently, reviewing grammar and syntax, and noting how the Greek helps us think through the theology and practical implications of the text.'
Eric Ortlund, who is leading the Hebrew Refresher, says: 'This will be a very easy review of grammar and syntax, with a lot of thought about how to preach this material.'
Only 15 places available
We have designed the refreshers to be as interactive and participative as possible. That means there is a maximum of 15 places available for each language option. Book early to avoid disappointment!
Optional meal out together
You'll also have the opportunity to gather for a group meal (which will include Greek and Hebrew participants all together) at a local restaurant on the Wednesday evening. We will make a block booking at a local restaurant and confirm details nearer the time, so at this stage, when booking your place on the Refresher, please indicate whether you are interested in joining this meal together.
