Life at Oak Hill

Spouses Network

Spouses are really important to Oak Hill.

Being married to a theological student is not a burning ambition for many, and a time while your husband or wife gets to study, read and write could feel like years-in-waiting. We want Oak Hill to be as welcoming as possible for spouses and families, and a place where they too can consider and prepare for serving God in the future. Spouses are all wonderfully different - much more different than their student-other-halves are - but we want every spouse to benefit from and enjoy their time here.

Our Spouses Network is for all spouses married to full and part time students, coming from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. Some of our spouses are in paid employment, others not, some have kids, some don’t, some live off site, some live on site, some are older, some are younger, some want to study too, others really don’t! The Spouses Network aims to give Oak Hill spouses opportunities to grow as servants of Christ in his church.

We organise weekly small groups (arranged to mirror the student Fellowship Groups so student and spouse groups are paired), and a series of meetings giving you opportunities to grow in your relationship with God, to think ahead to some of the opportunities, privileges and challenges that may await, and to make deep and lasting friendships. The Spouses Network provides a range of training opportunities for spouses, and spouses are also able to access lectures and the College's Equip events.

Spouses are really important to Oak Hill. As best we can, we want to help you feel at home here as you prepare for life after College.

The friendships, fellowship and opportunities to study and serve at College through the Spouses Network have encouraged me in love and knowledge of Christ, have helped me settle here, and I know are preparing me for future ministry."
