We’ve learned over recent days that David Powlison, Executive Director of the Christian Counseling & Educational Foundation, has died and entered glory.
Many Christian leaders have been recording their gratitude for God's gift to us in David. John Piper, Tim Keller, Paul Tripp, our own Steve Midgley and many others have recorded their appreciation for his grace, kindness and deeply biblical thinking, which made him a friend of unusual depth and a leader of unusual effectiveness.
For many, he led in the US not only CCEF, but the whole biblical counselling movement, and for us in the UK, it was his visit in 2013 that launched Changing Hearts, the conference that became Biblical Counselling UK, with whom Oak Hill continues in very fruitful partnership.
David was an extraordinary gift of God, who blessed so many as he patiently helped people and their counsellors see the connections between the gospel and their lives. On his visit to Oak Hill five years ago, David was interviewed briefly by Steve Midgley, explaining the central importance of sharing biblical counsel between the members of the church. We’re glad to make that video available again here.
