Announcement of new appointment at Oak Hill College: Revd Andrew Cowan

We’re very pleased to announce the appointment of Revd Andrew Cowan as Tutor in New Testament and Greek to join the team here at Oak Hill.

For the last three years Andrew has been the Curate at Trinity Church Henley, splitting his time there and as a DPhil Candidate at Wycliffe Hall in Oxford. His research has been in the form, genre and interpretation of ‘hymn texts’ in the New Testament.

Originally from Northern Ireland, Andrew studied Theological and Religious Studies at Cambridge University before serving in various ministry roles in London and training for ordained ministry in Oxford.

Andrew said of his appointment:

"In 2 Peter 3:18, we are called to ‘grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.’ Teaching the New Testament is such a privilege because it is absolutely foundational for our understanding of the gospel and love for the Lord Jesus, and in equipping us to serve his church.

I’m excited to join the Oak Hill community, where this pursuit of Jesus-shaped growth drives not only academic study but all of our life together, as we seek to be formed by God’s Word in heart, mind, and character. It is so humbling to be partnering in this work of training leaders who will faithfully preach, teach, and live out the gospel so that the whole church may be built up and strengthened in Christ. "

Principal, James Robson said of his appointment:

"I am delighted that Andrew will be joining the faculty at Oak Hill. He combines a deep pastoral heart, significant ministry experience, and strong academic and teaching gifts."- James Robson

We are looking forward to all that Andrew will contribute to the teaching and formation of students at Oak Hill as we continue to offer the space, practical training and supportive community needed to help people thrive in ministry.

Andrew will take up his post for the start of the new academic year in September 2025.  Please pray with us for the Lord's blessing on him, his wife Heather, and their three children as they prepare for this move.
