New Appointments for September

Oak Hill College is delighted to have made two new full-time appointments to our teaching staff for September.

The first is the very welcome return of Rev Dr Thomas Renz. Thomas taught Old Testament and Hebrew at Oak Hill from 1997-2009, before being ordained in the Church of England. He served a curacy and is currently rector of St Mary the Virgin in Monken Hadley, just a few miles from College. His New International Commentary on the Old Testament volume The Books of Nahum, Habakkuk, and Zephaniah was recently published and he has been a visiting lecturer here for the last few years as well as serving in the parish. Thomas is married to Gabi and they have two adult children.

Our second appointment is Dr Sofanit Abebe as a Lecturer in New Testament and Greek. Sofi is currently a Lecturer in New Testament & Christian Origins, alongside serving as the Dean of Students at the Ethiopian Graduate School of Theology. She has a PhD from the University of Edinburgh which focussed on the book of 1 Peter. She is relocating to England, as her husband is a pastor of an Ethiopian diaspora Church in London, and they will be moving to the Oak Hill campus along with their two young children.

Alongside these appointments we are very much looking forward to welcoming Rev Dr James Robson as our new Principal in the autumn. Upon his appointment, James said:

Oak Hill has a great history of serving the local church by helping with the forming, training and sustaining of men and women for and in gospel ministry. I'm really excited to be part of the next chapter.”

You can read more about his appointment here. Please do join us in praying for Thomas, Sofi, and James as they prepare for these new roles.
