Announcement of new appointment at Oak Hill College: Dr Robin Barfield

Dr Robin Barfield has been appointed to serve in the newly created part-time post of ‘Lecturer in Practical Theology and Support for Digital Pedagogies’ at Oak Hill College. Robin has previously been a visiting lecturer in Children’s, Youth and Family Ministry at Oak Hill. His teaching has been tremendously well-received by students, and so College is delighted that he is joining us in this new role. Robin brings over twenty years’ experience of leading the ministry to children, young people and their families in a local church. He has also recently completed a PhD on children’s ministry.

He will teach in the area of Practical Theology and contribute to sharpening the practical focus of students’ formation across both the existing teaching programme and the whole life of College. In addition he will work on developing and establishing Oak Hill’s continuing service of students, alumni and churches through creative deployment of digital resources and modes of delivery to strengthen our in-person and online learning, formation and community experience.

Robin says:

I am absolutely thrilled at this new position and looking forward to helping students to be equipped to reflect on their practice wisely, allowing a deeper exploration of how their experience connects with their theology. I am looking forward to being a part of the next stage in the college’s life as it continues to develop new and imaginative models of training to meet the needs of the twenty-first century.”

Robin will take up his post in September 2023.
