A growing team

Through God's gracious provision, we have been able to make some exciting new appointments to our teaching staff so that we continue to build a community of theological depth and pastoral care here at Oak Hill.

‍Kristi Mair will become a full time Research Fellow in Philosophy, Ethics, and Apologetics, having been part time since 2018. She will also continue making a valuable contribution to our pastoral support for female students. You can read more about Kristi here.

Alden McCray will also be joining us full time as a Lecturer in Systematic Theology and Church History, having been a visiting lecturer at the College. He will also look after the part time students from September, and help deliver and develop our study skills provision. He has completed a PhD in Systematic Theology on the doctrine of the divine attributes in John Calvin's work, exploring the intersection of dogmatic, exegetical, and pastoral elements.

Alongside Kristi and Alden, John Percival will be joining us in September as a part time Lecturer in New Testament and Greek. John studied at both Wycliffe Hall and Oak Hill before his curacy. He is currently completing a PhD at the University of Cambridge on the Pastoral Epistles.

Then, from September 2021, Dr Sydney Tooth will take up a full time position of Lecturer in New Testament and Greek. Sydney recently completed her PhD at the University of Edinburgh on the eschatologies of 1 and 2 Thessalonians and the place of these two letters within the context of other Jewish and early Christian eschatological thought. She is currently Adjunct Lecturer of New Testament at the Faith Mission Bible College in Edinburgh.

Oak Hill also continues to provide a rich, theological, and practical training for cross-cultural mission and youth and children’s ministries. Generations of youth and children’s workers will know what an amazing impact Mel Lacy has had in the last 11 years. We are deeply grateful to the Lord for her time at College and we are excited that Robin Barfield will be joining the team, leading two intensive modules on Children's and Youth Ministry next summer. Robin is Associate Minister for Children and Families at Christ Church in Winsford and is a PhD candidate at Spurgeon’s College, researching child spirituality. To learn more about Robin and our Youth and Children’s modules, read here.

Dave and Maura Baldwin are moving to Birmingham this summer to be involved in a church plant and to further develop their 2:19 ministry, mobilising churches to reach diaspora communities with the gospel through teaching English. However, we are delighted that Dave will continue as our Director of Global Mission and help us deliver new modules in cross-cultural ministry.

Finally, there are some changes in our academic leadership. Our current Acting Academic Dean, Brad Bitner, will be moving to California this summer to take on a role at Westminster Seminary and Dan Strange will be on study leave, completing some research and writing projects. For the coming year then, Matthew Sleeman and David Shaw will become Acting Vice-Principals, and we are thankful to them for stepping up at this time.

Please pray with us that these appointments will serve the Oak Hill community, the church, and our world well, as we continue looking to the Lord of the harvest for his provision.
