The Book of Isaiah

For good reason, Isaiah has been called ‘the fifth Gospel’ in the history of interpretation. This module offers an in-depth study of this beautiful and complex Old Testament book - its structure, its themes and its theology. Students work primarily with the English text but those with Hebrew will have opportunity to interact with aspects of the Hebrew text of Isaiah.

Isaiah is one of the most difficult books of the Bible-as well as one of the most joyful, and most directly relevant to our context. We will learn both how to read the book better, how it shows us patterns in God's dealing with his people, and how it witnesses forward to Christ.”
