General Epistles (Greek)

Programme module

The General Epistles (e.g. Hebrews, 1-2 Peter, Jude) employ some of the most elegant and complex Greek of all the New Testament writings. They also make unique contributions to our understanding of the Gospel, the church and the Christian life. In this module students gain further, in-depth practice with Greek grammar, syntax and other exegetical skills as they study several select whole books with a view towards an advanced integration of exegesis, theological and pastoral reflection.

This module is for those who have completed introductory and intermediate Greek and are looking to advance their exegetical skills further. The treasures of 1 Peter and Hebrews are in the text, and we engage in a close reading for where syntax, rhetoric and vocabulary carry and fuel theology and the fruits of discipleship desired by these biblical books. If you're looking to develop an advanced competence in New Testament Greek for ministry, this is the module for you."
