Philosophical Foundations

Programme module

Philosophy has always been a helpful support for engaging with theology and culture. In this module students will be exposed to some key developments in the western tradition and will begin to explore some contemporary cultural resonances of a chosen area of the history of philosophy.

We are do not exist as people set in a sealed philosophical vacuum. Our cultures, communities and even churches have been profoundly shaped by ideas and their fruits. This module takes us on a tour of a Western history of ideas, it situates us in our current milieu, and it enables us (through small group discussion) to explore and critically engage our philosophical heritage.”
