Doctrine of Creation

Programme module

This module explores the Christian doctrine of creation. Beginning with foundational questions of how to best approach the question of creation today, the module then explores the historic development of the doctrine, noting the interrelation of biblical, philosophical/metaphysical and theological themes.

In doing so, the module pays special attention to the modern period, analysing various challenges to a traditional Christian account of creation and considering how theologians and exegetes can best respond.  Finally the module will reflect upon the pastoral or virtue-forming implications that might accrue from a robust recovery of the doctrine for theology and ministry today.
