DM2.7

A Theology of Digital & Digital Ministries

Programme module

Twenty years ago "digital natives" and "digital immigrants" was an early attempt to explore different ways of inhabiting the developing digital world. "Digital wisdom" is a more recent description, together with the recognition that for some people "digital-avoidance-altogether- if-possible" constitutes wisdom, for others "digital minimalism" is the goal, and for others "enthusiastic participation" expresses their stance towards most things digital.

In this module we will explore the history and geography of the digital world, assemble the materials for building a theology of digital life within the context of broader Christian theology. We will identify some of the connections between digital tools and patterns of thinking, and theological practice and patterns of ministry and daily life. We'll explore the dimensions of digital wisdom for church leaders, church life, Christian families and individuals. We won't get it all sorted.
