Oak Hill offers a number of bursaries to enable a wide range of students to access theological training.

Bursary applications open in the Spring each year. You will need to have applied and received an offer in order to apply then.

Please be aware that only the Small Church Bursary is available for students on our Foundation Award or the MA in Contemporary Christian Leadership.

The Start Studying Bursary

We’re delighted to offer financial support through a charitable trust dedicated to helping students pursue their calling without financial barriers.

Each year, the fund provides full tuition coverage for two full-time students or four part-time students in their first year of study. It’s designed to support those who might otherwise struggle to access funding for their training.

Preference is given to applicants who face difficulty securing financial support from other sources, and:

  • are preparing for careers in youth and children’s ministry, or

  • are committed to serving in under-resourced communities.

This bursary is means-tested to ensure that funding reaches those who need it most.

The First Degree Bursary

If you’re beginning your first undergraduate qualification at Oak Hill, you may be eligible for support through the First Degree Bursary.

This bursary celebrates the partnership between students, their churches, and individual supporters who share in their ministry journey. Oak Hill will consider matching the financial support pledged by your church and individual supporters, up to:

  • £10,000 per year for full-time students, or

  • £5,000 per year for part-time students.

The bursary is reviewed annually for the duration of your programme, reflecting our shared commitment to equipping you for ministry together.

Please note this is not available for Church of England ordinands whose fees are paid for by their diocese.

The Small Church Partnership Bursary

We believe that every church, no matter its size or budget, should have the opportunity to equip its members for ministry and growth. Our Small Church Partnership Bursary is designed especially for congregations with limited financial resources, helping remove the barriers to theological education and leadership training.

For churches with an annual income of less than £100k a year, we will offer 50% off fees for any students they send who are accepted onto our programmes. Students must have been attending the church for at least 6 months.

This discount will apply for the entirety of the students programme and is available for all our accredited courses.

The Residential Student Bursary

Oak Hill offers a number of ways to train, offering as much flexibility as possible to students. We continue to be passionate about the benefits of full-time residential training, where it is possible for students.

To help aid students in the costs of moving and living on site, we have the Residential Student Bursary available.

For any student (exc. Church of England ordinands) studying a programme full-time and living residentially at Oak Hill College, a bursary of 20% on fees is available.

This bursary is means-tested to ensure that funding reaches those who need it most.

The 'Closing the Gap' Bursary

We don’t want a lack of funding or support to stop a student from completing their studies at Oak Hill.

When enrolled students have explored all other funding sources (which we are pleased to help you investigate), they can apply for a Closing the Gap Bursary. The maximum a student can receive is usually £3,000, and there are four application points throughout the year for current Oak Hill students. This bursary can be used towards either fees or living costs - it is to help pay for unexpected costs or unexpected drops in income.

More details about this bursary are available once a student has started at college.

The Alumni Postgraduate Discount

All Oak Hill alumni are eligible to receive 20% off tuition fees for any postgraduate course in Theology, Ministry and Mission.

This is available to all Oak Hill students who have completed (or are in the process of completing) our BA (Hons) programme in Theology, Ministry and Mission.

On applying, you will be able to note when you studied with us, and once you begin studying, you will see the reduced fees automatically applied to your invoice.

Raising Financial Support

At Oak Hill, we believe that the church deserves leaders who are theologically educated. We know that the training required to equip a person effectively for long-term ministry requires an investment of time and money, and that fundraising for that training takes time.
