Oak Hill has given me the space to reflect, to correct, and to grow. I’ve come to love Jesus not only as my Saviour, but as the one who wisely upholds all things.

Before coming to Oak Hill, Adele had spent ten years serving as a women’s worker and church administrator. “During that time, I had a growing sense that I needed external recognition for the ministry I was involved in,” she says. “Training felt like a chance to deepen my theological foundations and be equipped for long-term gospel work.”
Although she doesn’t see herself as naturally academic, Adele chose Oak Hill because of its commitment to theological depth and practical training. “I visited other colleges and felt overwhelmed,” she explains. “But at Oak Hill, I sensed a seriousness about theology, without it being intimidating. They said, ‘Trust the programme’—and they were right.”
She particularly values the balance between structure and space. “The programme builds gradually, and I’ve had the freedom to pursue questions that matter to me,” she says. Living on campus also shaped her formation: “I came from central London where I barely knew my neighbours. Here, I was suddenly surrounded by people—and that taught me what it means to be a good neighbour.”
As an Anglican, Adele appreciated studying alongside students from a range of traditions. “College helped persuade me that it’s really good to be Anglican, despite the challenges. Understanding the history and theological foundations has given me confidence.”
Being a woman at Oak Hill has also been a positive experience. “Yes, we’re outnumbered,” she smiles, “but I’ve always felt valued. In class discussions, especially around preaching, I felt my perspective was welcomed—even as someone who is not regularly preaching. There’s been a real willingness to hear about some of the potential blind spots and harder things.”
Having recently finished, Adele reflects: “Oak Hill has given me the space to reflect, to correct, and to grow. I’ve come to love Jesus not only as my Saviour, but as the one who wisely upholds all things.”
