As a part-time student there’s support, regular check-ins and real care.

Katie Thomas Part-time student

For Katie Thomas, part-time study at Oak Hill has been the perfect fit. Working as a church administrator in West London, she spends Mondays and Tuesdays immersed in theological study—and the rest of the week serving her local church.

“Before Oak Hill, I was a student worker in central London. I knew I’d likely be in ministry long-term, and I wanted deeper theological training to serve well—wherever God leads.”

What made Oak Hill stand out? “I trusted Oak Hill to give me a solid, evangelical education. I already lived in London, and the part-time course structure made it logistically possible. With a bursary, the financial side didn’t feel like an overwhelming barrier either.”

The part-time programme is designed to work flexibly for students like Katie. “All my classes are scheduled over two days, so I can do most of my reading and assignments on-site. I usually stay on campus those nights, which helps me engage in college life too.”

Katie’s week balances head and heart: “I love the mix—deep theological thinking and then practical admin work. It keeps me grounded.”

Community life has been a surprising joy as well. “I’ve found the other students so welcoming. And having a dedicated part-time tutor has made a big difference. There’s support, regular check-ins, and real care.”

And a highlight? “Studying doctrine isn’t always my natural instinct, but I’ve had some real ‘wow’ moments—like reflecting on the incarnation in a way I’d never done before. It’s helped me love Jesus more deeply.”

For Katie, part-time study hasn’t meant compromise. It’s meant flourishing—in life, in faith, and in ministry.
