Oak Hill Theological College is pleased to announce its new postgraduate programmes in Theology, Ministry and Mission — designed from the ground up to be flexible, accessible, and deeply connected to real-world ministry.
Recognising the complex realities of church leadership today, these programmes allow students to shape their studies around existing commitments to ministry, work, and family life.
How flexible is this programme?
Students can tailor their studies in three key ways:
Pace: Study full time or part time, over up to four years for the MA
Mode: Choose between intensive teaching weeks, weekly classes, or a combination of both
Location: Attend teaching in person at Oak Hill College or live synchronously online from home
Validated by Durham University as part of the Common Awards Framework, the programmes combine academic rigour with a strong vocational focus. They are designed for those already engaged in ministry, as well as for those discerning a future in theological research, teaching, or further leadership.
To further widen access, Oak Hill is also introducing new financial support alongside the launch.
All Oak Hill alumni are eligible for a 20% fee discount on postgraduate study. In addition, a new bursary scheme will offer 50% fee reductions for students serving in smaller churches, reflecting Oak Hill’s founding commitment to supporting ministry in under-resourced contexts.
Discover our bursaries
Reflecting our founder's vision, Oak Hill offers a number of bursaries to enable a wide range of students to access theological training.
The programmes are available at three award levels: Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert), Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip), and Master of Arts (MA). Students may exit with a lower award and return within five years to continue their studies, offering further flexibility for those whose circumstances change.
The curriculum brings together biblical studies, Christian doctrine, pastoral theology, and missiology, addressing both the theological foundations and the practical challenges of contemporary ministry. Modules are taught by our experienced faculty and are designed to encourage careful engagement with Scripture, thoughtful theological reflection, and application to church life and mission.
One recent MA student, Hezron, a pastor based in Luton originally from Zambia, exemplifies the kind of student these programmes are designed to serve. With over twenty years of ministry experience and eight years serving his current church in the UK, Hezron came to Oak Hill to deepen his theological understanding while continuing in active pastoral leadership.
Studying part time while commuting to college during teaching weeks, Hezron found that the close integration between academic study and ministry was been one of the programme’s greatest strengths.
Hezron Muwowo MA Student“One week we were looking at leadership in the pastoral epistles, and I was able to take that straight into a men’s Bible study at church. That sort of real-time integration has been a huge help."
He has also valued the depth of theological engagement. “The teaching was rigorous, but also worshipful at times,” he says. “It’s helped me think more clearly and carefully about Scripture, but also about how theology connects to the life of the church.”
Despite studying part time, Hezron felt well supported. “There’s good support — you’re supported by a dedicated tutor, you meet regularly, and the tutors are approachable.”
With their combination of flexibility, academic depth, and practical focus — alongside new discounts and bursaries — Oak Hill’s postgraduate programmes offer an accessible and sustainable pathway for those seeking to grow in theology, ministry, and mission.
The MA has helped me think more clearly and carefully about Scripture, but also about how theology connects to the life of the church.
